Affectionately called "The Angel in the Skies," Alesia Speeds was the first African-American airborne traffic reporter to cover the Dallas/Fort Worth area. For nearly eight years Speed has reported traffic conditions on five major radio stations. She is currently heard by most listeners on KKDA 104.5 FM's "Skip Murphy & Company" morning show and Skip Cheatham's show during the afternoon drive. Speed graduated with honors from Texas Women's University with a journalism degree in mass communications. She actively participates in community-based programs such as South Dallas National Night Out; American Cancer Society's Relay For Life; and, of course, the African American Read-In. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Speed has called Dallas home for nearly 20 years. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, decorating and reading. |
