Jil M. Ross The Shenanigans Series™ Cedar Hill Publishers |
![]() |
Genre/Synopsis Juvenile Fiction I created The Shenanigans Series™ as a result of not being able to find challenging and thought provoking books for my two children to read when they became interested in reading chapter books. I also had a difficult time finding books that featured African Americans in a positive manner and that were relevant to issues of today. All of the stories that I write are inspired by true events, and although the stories are told with humor, they're also grounded in moral lessons. There are currently five books in The Shenanigans Series™, their titles are; Marie Plays Homeless, Foster the Mummy, What's the Matter, Mr. Ticklebritches? The Real Nitty Gritty and The Blake Family Vacation. The books in the series are available through Amazon.com and are distributed through Baker & Taylor. BiographyJil M. Ross is a certified vendor with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) and The Chicago Park District. She coordinate and participate in local (Chicago) book fairs, book readings with such organizations as, Bookworms, The Kids Literacy Program for South Side YMCA, and Jack & Jill. She has twice been a guest on WNUA's City Voices, with host Stan West, to discuss her book series and the importance of literacy, folktales and storytelling in the African American Community. In addition, she speaks with students about the necessity and fundamentals of reading, writing and creative expression. She has been featured in articles in the Beverly Review and in Culture Magazine.
